Progress and Success? Delivered!

The PSD Manifesto for the Second Chamber Election, August 2005/xvii/II

Introduction

The Social Democratic Party of Talossa (PSD) is without doubt the most significant political force in the Talossan Republic.

The PSD was founded with the conscious intention of not just being a political party, but to build a sort of “brains trust” - a team of the most creative and active Talossans who would work together to achieve their goals. Too often the old Kingdom was torn apart by battles between titanic egos which could not co-operate. We like to think that our agreement to work as a team has been a major factor in the pleasant, harmonious atmosphere which has (mostly!) prevailed in the Republic to date.

PSD members were at the forefront of the Revolution which founded the Republic; the Convention which designed our Constitution; and have been driving the first elected Government in the Republic’s history in the capacity of Deputies, Ministers, and as the President of the Republic. On the cultural front, too, PSD members have taken the lead - whether it’s been a matter of promoting our unique language, researching our history, or designing our websites.

We’ve done a lot. But there’s still a lot that needs doing. And we need your vote in the election for the second Chamber to make it happen. (more…)

Government round-up

Esteemed citizens and friends of the Republic:

An update on the business of the Government.

FIRSTLY, in case there was any doubt, I heartily applaud the President’s speech on the latest legally actionable comments from the former King of Talossa. I hope they will act as a beacon of freedom to all disaffected Kingdomites.

SECONDLY, a word about the programme of this Government. (more…)

The Kingdom Is a Bug Nation

grubispeechFellow Talossans, Friends, and oberservers:

Recently, the King of North Talossa has chosen to repeat his attacks on our fair Republic, calling us terrorists, thieves, violent criminals, drunkards, and corrupt. And I have been asked by several people what I think and what I intend to do. I intend to do that which the King has refused to do, which is the only antidote for such calumny: tell the truth, even if it hurts.

Why does he feel compelled to attack now, calling us all sorts of nasty things? Perhaps it is because I won the presidential election. Perhaps he sees one political victory as an endorsement of his pretend victimhood. Perhaps he feels that anyone who supports me publicly is no better than a criminal. Perhaps he is attempting to draw attention away from that which is really going on. (more…)

PM Schiva on the Attacks on London

I join with my colleauge, the President of the Republic, in unreservedly condemning the immoral and counter-productive attacks on civilians in London today.

Immoral because they targeted ordinary working people of London, who are not responsible for whatever political decisions of their leaders the terrorists might have had a problem with. Counter-productive because it destroys whatever sympathy those ordinary working people might have with the aims of the terrorist group. (more…)

The Attacks on London

Today, the city of London was ripped into by several explosions along its mass transit system, killing more than thirty-five and injuring hundreds more. According to all current information, the persons responsible were terrorists, and a massive search and investigation is underway to find those responsible for these cowardly acts.

The Government of the Talossan Republic unreservedly condemns these attacks. Terror is not only an immoral but a counter-productive means towards a political goal. These faceless cowards were so intent on hurting their perceived enemies that they were willing to hurt anyone and everyone who may have gotten in their way. This notion is familiar to us in the Republic, although not on so grand a scale. And we will not tolerate it, no matter the scale. (more…)

Speech to the Nation from a presidential candidate

speechMy fellow Talossans, I stand before you today a candidate for the office of President of the Republic.

The office of the first President of our fair Republic carries a great and profound responsibility. Its holder must be prepared to invest all necessary time, effort, and energy to do the best possible job. I well value these finite commodities, and I am ready and willing to offer them for the progress and welfare of the Republic. After months of consideration, I have reached a view on what this office will demand, and it is these qualities:

Principle. Strength. Dedication. (more…)
